Description

Mithra was launched in 1972 in New Zealand. The boat was designed and made
by “Salthouse boat builders” in Auckland.
https://www.salthouseboats.com/index.html
She is made with cold planked Kauri wood and a coat of fiberglass. She went
around the world in the 70’s and then, with the next owners, sailed from
Auckland to Australia, Asia, India, Maurice, Egypt, Ibiza, SXM, and Bahamas on a
20years journey...In 2018, a quick refit was done in Florida and the boat is
sailing through Caribbean islands since then.
The boat has always been maintained and loved!
Sails are in good condition, the main sail got 3 battens and 2 reefs. There is 2
genoas, one old and one young. Both has a UV cover and are ok to sail! We
have a storm sail as well with a very clever system to install it over the genoa.
The spinnaker is missing but the halyard and tagoon are there. Reefing lines,
halyards, and furling lines are almost new.
The Engine is a yanmar 3JH2E, it’s old but has been serviced regularly and starts
perfect. The only trouble is that it doesn’t go up in the rpms...So cruising speed
under engine is 3-4knts. Lots of spares come with the engine.

The propeller is a Variprop 3 blades.
In the kitchen, there is a nice sink, with hot water (System connected to engine
coolant). There is a stove and 2 fires to cook on (Propane bottle outside). The
boat is equipped with a 2 compartments fridge/Freezer( raw water cooling
compressor system)
The kitchen is fully equipped.
There is 3 100amps AGM batteries and a 285w solar panel installed on the
stern. It’s enough to run the boat; we usually turn of the fridge at night and
turn it back on when the sun rises.
About the electronics, there is all raymarine equipments, St60+ wind
instruments and depth sounder. The VHF is operational and ICOM radio as well.
The autopilot needs a new computer and screen, the drive is a type1 12v, is
installed and operational.
The boat is registered in Poland, but the permanent import tax is paid in the BVI
so you can keep it there as long as you want!
Lots of tools, charts and spares comes on the boat.
The tender is a ZAR mini RIB8 and is 4 years old. It’s hypalon so can last long
time. You just need to install an engine on it!
The boat is ready to live aboard but it would be good to realize a few projects
before sailings across oceans again:
-Replace forestay and backstay
-Repaint the deck
-Have the engine tuned by a pro
-Maybe install more batteries depending on how you want to use the boat.
-Install new autopilot or self steering system
